For buyers, utilizing global standards allows for easier adoption, translation, training, auditing, and reporting.


For suppliers, global standards are easier to understand and convey to workers. It also makes it easier to disseminate to their suppliers.

What should an organization consider?

    • What other codes are suppliers and their customers using​?

    • What are other buyers (private and public) doing?

  • Use plain language, not legalese, wherever possible

  • Look at corporate entities that buy or make similar products and face similar risks ( e.g., electronics, textiles, pharmaceuticals, etc.)

  • Look at public institutions with good corporate social responsibility platforms
